UNIQUE HISTORY NAME OF VILLAGE IN ACEH

COMMUNITY Aceh has a culture of naming the region according to the events or major events and personality. The name of the area is then dumped for the newly inhabited village and is often still used today.

The names of the area or village in Aceh sometimes sound unique, both for migrants and local residents. So what are the names of the village?

1. SAMAHANI

Samahani is the birthplace of the Regent of Aceh Besar Mukhlis A Basyah alias Adun Mukhlis. Samahani is one of the existing settlements in Aceh Besar and is famous for its srikaya peanut butter bread.
"Formerly in this area there was an Indian trader named Ghani, who often traded in the area carrying merchandise on his head,".
Ghani who often pass through this area is often surrounded by eagles who want to eat his wares.
"So the eagle together (flying around) on the head of the Ghani.Since time, the local community then called this area with Sama si Ghani who later became Samahani,"

2. ALUE LEUHOB

Besides Samahani, other unique gampong names such as Alue Leuhob, North Aceh. this area is a village in transmigration area Buket Hagu Cot Girek, North Aceh.
Since 1984, Alue Leuhob village has been an independent village or apart from the management of the Ministry of Transmigration. Thus Alue Leuhob is the 100th Village in Lhoksukon Sub-district, North Aceh District.
"The name Alue Leuhob comes from two words, namely Alue and Leuhob. It means a small river, while Leuhob means mud. Simply Alue Leuhob means: Muddy little river,".

 From the sense of the name of the village, we can certainly imagine that this area is one of the marshy areas and filled with mud. While the reality can be found in the field, the village is "very clean" from the mud trap.

3. LAMA INONG

Unique example of other village names such as Lama Inong village in Aceh Barat Daya. Based on the history of the gampong known in ancient times, three people from Pidie migrated to this area. One of them is Teuku Karim from Ujong Rimba Village, Pidie.
"At first they settled in the Nagan area (Jeuram) and began to open seuneubok pepper or pepper crop of keumeukok pepper (pepper tail),".

The three young people have a good social talent. During the day they work in the pepper garden, while at night teach the children to study the Qur'an and teach the books to adults. The influence is getting bigger among the people of Seunagan area

While in South Aceh, they stayed at a woman's house in an unnamed village. With the old woman escorted as a guide, they went to meet the king Teuku Sarullah to the area of ​​Kuala Batee.
The arrival of these three young men from Pidie was welcomed by King Teuku Sarullah. Later, the three became prominent figures of the people's progress in the kingdom of Kuala Batee. Teuku Karim, after becoming a community figure titled Teuku Syik Karim.
The event of landing three young travelers in the home of an elderly woman, eventually became a historically memorable by the people of the kingdom of Kuala Batee. The reason, these three young people have carved a beautiful history for the people in the area.

4. JEURAT MANYANG (JERMAN)

In Pidie, there is also a unique gampong name: Jeurat Manyang. This gampong is located in Mutiara Sub-district, Pidie. "In the Indonesian language the literal meaning of Jeurat Manyang, the high tomb,".
At the time of the early period of the arrival of Islam in Aceh has come to the village (which is now called Jeurat Manyang) a scholar from the land Pasai (Kingdom of Samudra Pasai). The cleric rides an elephant. The cleric came from an area called Jeurat Manyang (Rhang Manyang) in the Samudra Pasai Kingdom, North Aceh. The community calls the cleric Teungku Jeurat Manyang title.
After living there, Teungku Jeurat Manyang then set up a boarding school. Lots of santri who learn to the dayah so that is known by the public. When Teungku Jeurat Manyang died, his dayah continued to be developed by his students.
"Finally to commemorate and honor this scholar, the place where the location of the dayah was established as well as the place where he was buried called Kampung Jeurat Manyang. Jeurat Manyang, meaning that there has been meritorious Teungku Jeurat Manyang from Pasai, North Aceh,"

5. MEUREUDU

Meureudu is the capital of Pidie Jaya after the expansion of Pidie. The city is located on the east coast of Pidie Jaya Regency. The area is famous for delicious Indian specialties, such as curry martabak and briani rice that are not much different from their home country, since the majority of Meureudu are Hindi (Indian) descendants.
The name naming Meurudu is related to the history of the expansion of the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam region based in Banda Aceh. Based on hereditary story of Pidie Jaya residents, Meureudu comes from Meurah Du which means elephant sitting.
It is said that when the Sultan of Aceh traveled to the regions he rode an elephant. But upon arriving at Meureudu, the elephant was exhausted and rested. As a result, the location of the elephant fleet belonging to the restive Aceh kingdom is then referred to as Meurah Du which later became Meureudu. Location of the elephant sitting belonging to the Sultan of Aceh is located in Gampong Meunasah Raya, Meureudu. There is a monument that tells the origin of the Meureudu naming, which can be found today.
In another historical record written by Ali Hasjmy revealed that the naming of Meureudu comes from the name of one of Makdum Malik Mansur's sons from the Peureulak empire. He is famous for the title Meurah Meria or Tue Mersa.
Makdum Malik Mansur has seven sons, namely Meurah Jernang, Meurah Bacang, Meurah Itam, Meurah Puteh, Meurah Silu and Meurah Mege. The seven children are assigned to spread da'wah to other areas outside Peureulak such as to Seunagan, Barus, Beuracan, Kiran, Jeumpa Syahir Tanwi, and Daya.
Meureudu own name comes from Meurah two, namely Meurah Itam and Meurah Puteh later named by Sultan Malik Saleh (Meurah Silu) to Meureudu.
